Raisin in the sun

May 8, 2008

I would like to think that race doesnt matter but there are people that pass jugment on others because of Race, skin color or nationality. When I hang out with people from a different ethnicity I think nothing of it. Were all people thats my opinion. I think there will always be racism. There will always be one person who hates another person because of the color oof there skin.

DSP Reflection

May 8, 2008

I thought all the DSP’s were made well. I thought the funniest one was the ninja one with Marwan, Ryan and Oliver. There was pretty funny and well made. I thought it was funny how they repeated everything they siad even when it ment something else.

Although ours was funny, I think our was also the most well made.

DSP

April 27, 2008

The story starts out with captain Mark Hamilton flying his black hawk helicopter to pick up some soldiers who were on patrol. Hamilton is a capable helicopter pilot and has a knack for finding the humor in almost any situation. His joking around and playing tricks on his fellow pilots earned him the nick name Jester. the story continues with Hamilton and his helicopter crew flying combat missions in support of ground troops. On one mission Hamilton is flying top cover when they get a call to pick up a wounded soldier. They move in for the pick up and start to take heavy fire. Hamilton lands the helicopter and medics load the wounded soldier. Hamilton is about to head back to base when he hears a distress call over the radio. His friend and squadron mate “Viper” has been hit by a missle and is going down. Hamilton looks out the side window just in time to see the other helicopter slam in to the ground and almost flip over. Hamilton and his crew are the only ones who can save the crew of the downed helicopter but if they dont get the wounded soldier back asap then he will die. Hamilton doesn’t even know if anyone is alive on the downed helicopter, so he wonders if its worth risking the life of the soldier. At the same time the thought of leaving his friend to be captured or killed makes him sick. Hamilton makes his choice. He turns the helicpoter around and starts heading back to the crash site. The gunners shoot at enemy postions as the helicopter runs a gauntlet of fire. Hamilton can hear bullets hitting his helicopter. He lands, and the copilot and engineer jump out and run over to the downed helicopter. They help the wounded to the helicopter. Hamilton and the gunners lay down cover fire while the rescue attempt keeps going. All the survivors were loaded and hamilton takes off. As rockets and bullets come flying at them hamilton looks back to disscover there is someone missing. “Where’s Viper”?.The enginner responds “He didnt make it sir,” at that exact moment a rocket flies up out of no where and hits the cockpit of the helicopter. No one saw it coming. The helicpoter tumbles out of the sky crashing to earth. The helicpoter erupts in a masive fire ball. All on board are killed instantly. Hamilton is posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. His copilot and enginner both posthumously received the distinguished service cross.

Power quote

April 20, 2008

“Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.”

I belive the part about absolute power corrupts is true. It is hard for me to think of people who had absolute power and werent corrupt or bad people. the part about great men are almost always bad men coudnt be farther from the truth. If you look at Goerge Washington or Winston Churchil. They were great men. Some other examples of great men were general Patton, General Macarthur, President Kennedy. None of these people were bad people an they were great. people like Hitler and Stalin support the quot but they achived greatness threw fear and ruling with an iron fist. Auto crats tend to be bad people but great people are not usually bad people.

A time I did something wrong.

April 13, 2008

One time when I was little one of my friends had this really cool toy gun that I liked to play with. One day he told me he was going out of town so I asked if I could keep his toy gun until he got back. I begged him until he gave in but he made me promise he would get it back in one piece. I agreed. The next day I was in the back yard playing soldier when I tripped and fell. I got up and noticed that the toy gun had smashed into something hard. I picked it up and the barrel had broken off. Luckily my dad managed to fix it. I never told my friend what happened. When he got back we started to play in the back yard when the barrel broke off again. It was my fault. My friend started to cry because it was his favorite toy. He took the toy gun and ran home. I felt really bad after this.

48 laws of power

April 11, 2008

I think the laws work to some extent. The problem is if your plan to gain power back fires then the laws will come back to haunt you. For example if your success was completly dependent on other peoples work then you will be in big trouble. Also at the end of the second law it says to find a way to make enemies. That makes no sence because the less enemies you have the less obstacles you have to face. law 14 states that you should work as a spy. That would work unless you are found out. Once that happens you would not only loose all trust from the person you were spying on but you would loose all credability you had with people. No one would trust you anymore.

There is this guy who wants to be a millionare. He starts off by getting loans from the bank and using the money to start his own business. His first business fails and he barrows more money to try another business. All his ideas fail and by this time he has no money and thousands of dollers in det. What he does is he goes on a robbing spree steeling stuff from peoples houses. He then sells it in a differet town. He eventually robs a house and gets his hands on somebodys personal information. He uses identity theft to get more money from the bank and goes on a spending spree. along with the money from the stuff he stole he makes tens of thousands of dollers. The police eventually catch him after he set off an alarm while trying to break into a house. He gets several years in prison and is forced to pay the families for the stuff he stole.

Advice for Macbeth

April 8, 2008

I dont think Macbeth should kill the king. You shoudnt harm those who have placed there utmost trust in you.

Macbeth is already sucsessful he is the thane of cawdor. He just wants more power than what he currently has. I think anyone can be successful without hurting other people you just have to play your cards right.

Why Teach Shakespeare?

March 23, 2008

I think we are taught Shakespeare so we are given a greater understanding of the English language. I also think its because there is a time of year that English teachers run out of stuff to teach so they fill it in with a Shakespeare unit.

I have been taught Shakespeare every year since the seventh grade. Last year we did romeo and juliet. I remember we had to get up and act out certain parts out of the book. We also watched two movie versions of the play.

The Dumbing of America.

March 9, 2008

1. The author is trying to convince us that america is getting dunmber.

2. The author says that the number of people who read for pleasure has droped significantly. The author also says that our attention spans have gotten shorter.

3.The author believs video games and movies have mafe us dumber.

4.When the auther says anti intelectualism he means that america is against getting smarter.

5. General knowlege is slowly going away.

6.The problem is not that people dont know its that they dont want to or think they dont need to know.

7. Some people have a way of desiding what knowlege is imortant and what is just useless. I was talking about the batttle for Midway in world war two and how that was one of the most important battles in world war two. I herd someone say to me “Who Cares”. That has happend to me several times when im talking about important events not nessacerely war realted.
